In April, Computer Center has received ISO 27001:2005 Information Security Management Systems (ISMS) certification from SGS Group, the world’s leading verification and certification company. The internationally recognized ISO 27001:2005 shows that the Center has heightened our campus information security level, developing a safer and more secure environment for web users.
The Center takes pride in the certification because it has then become one of the few computer centers in Taiwan that pass the assessment based on the professional ability and the entire services provided by the centers.
The certified categories range from campus network maintenance and management to the operation of Taoyuan Region Web Center for Taiwan Academic Network (TANet), including numerous online academic or administrative systems designed by our colleagues.
To meet the standards of ISO 27001:2005, Center Director Jonathan Lee (李允中) led the staff and started their work by setting up an Information Security Enhancement team in each division last October. After carrying out several qualification tasks, such as risk management, process simulations, and self-assessment, the Center, to one’s amazement, is certified in merely 6 months instead of the average of 10.
"Thanks to the staff’s whole-hearted devotion, the three goals of information security management—‘Confidentiality, Integrity, and Availability’—can be achieved in such a short time," said Director Lee.
This year, in addition to the international recognition, Computer Center has acquired the CNS 27001, a domestic certification issued by Taiwan Accreditation Foundation (TAF).
