課程簡介：
近年出現許多在「後現代」標題之下探討空間、社會生活與文化認同之間各種細微構成關係的著述。而在後現代理論、後殖民理論、後結構主義、（後）女性主義與解構等思潮交錯影響之下，包括文化地理、社會、環境、建築、城鄉與都市計畫等學門邊際的各類研究議題已開拓出遠超乎傳統都市社會學與馬克思主義空間分析的研究取向。限於一學期研討課的閱讀份量，本課程捨棄了空間文化研究裡眾多有趣的經驗性研究，而將課程設計為理論與觀點的探討。然而學期報告卻鼓勵以本課程訓練的理論與觀點，發展以台灣社會為經驗背景的研究計畫。
課程要求：
每週課前兩小時繳交提問約三百字，閱讀引言與討論參與佔學期成績百分之五十，期末繳交八千至一萬字的研究報告佔總成績50%。研究報告可分為兩種形式：(I)理論與觀點的思辨探討，或(II)以台灣社會為背景的經驗性研究計畫，可以包括計量分析、田野觀察、歷史與文學的文本分析、視覺媒材（攝影或電影）的解讀等，方法不拘。
