College of Sciences

In 1986, College of Science was founded as the first college in National Central University, Jhong-Li City, Taiwan. There are five departments, four graduate institutes, one joint Science Program and nine research centers. Currently, there are about 145 faculty members with PhD degrees, 280 graduate students in doctoral programs, 642 graduate students in master programs, and 1054 undergraduate students.

Complete Courses ＆First-rate Campus
Faculty members of the College of Science graduate from famous universities domestically and overseas who are enthusiastic about research and teaching. Especially, in experimental courses in basic sciences, we have put a large number of budgets and manpower in not only updating instruments, but also teaching materials. We have designed modern experiments so that students are able to get in touch with advanced equipments and operating methods.
One of the goals in teaching in College of Science is to develop students’ active attitude toward researching and learning.

Excellent Research Environment ＆Top Research Performance
Faculty members of the College of Science are actively engaged in wide and deep research, and most of them are the best and most academic-driven researchers in Taiwan. More than 90% of our professors have obtained the research grants and awards from National Science Council every year. The equipments in the laboratory are advanced and abundant. Many professors are awarded as National Professorships and fellows in the international organizations.
Not only graduate students are recruited, but undergraduate are invited to join the research program.
Instituteof Astronomyis responsible of the operation of the only one research-oriented observatory in Taiwan, which is located in Lulin, the middle of Taiwan.

International Vision
We encourage our students to develop their international vision. They will join exchange students program with foreign partner universities, and attend international conference. Every year, there are many long-term, short-term scholars who are invited to teach and do research in College of Science, hence our professors and students have opportunities to communicate with foreign scholars. These years, a large number of international students are recruited in our college, and professional courses taught in English are established, which enhance local students’ language ability and international visions.

Multi-Entrance Ways ＆Plentiful Scholarships
We have provided many entrance ways for undergraduate students, such as Applications for Admission, Recommended Proficiency Examination and Entrance Examination; Applications for Admission and Entrance Examination for graduate. Many students with excellent academic performance will be award with NCU Scholarships.
