Dean's Welcome 2007.08

On behalf of the faculty, staff, graduate and undergraduate students that make up our science community here at National Central University I welcome you to our web site.

The College of Science at National Central University was founded in 1968 as the first College on campus and has eight academic divisions:
Department of Mathematics
Department of Physics
Department of Chemistry
Department of Life Science
Department of Optics and Photonics
Graduate Institute of Statistics
Graduate Institute of Astronomy
Graduate Institute of Cognitive Neuroscience
Graduate Institute of
Systems Biology and Bioinformatics

The NCU college of Science (NCUCS) has a broad spectrum of research directions. More than 60 research labs, well funded by the National Science council, are actively engaged in state-of-the-art scientific investigations. The topics range from the largest to the smallest scales, from the most fundamental to immediate applications, and emphasize both experimental and theoretical studies. Students in the NCUCS experience a very intensive research program, as well as close interactions with people from many different backgrounds.

Sincerely,

Prof. Reuben Jih-Ru Hwu
Dean, College of Science
