Qualification
- Eligible international students do not have overseas Chinese status or have not possessed R.O.C. nationality* for 8 years or more. (This regulation does not apply to students who are citizens of: Hong Kong, Macau or the People’s Republic of China.)
- Foreign students who are recommended to study in Taiwan under cultural exchange and cooperation agreements with foreign governments, schools, institutions and cultural or educational organizations, shall not be subject to the restrictions mentioned above.
- International students with a high school diploma are eligible to apply for undergraduate studies at NCU; students with a bachelor’s degree are eligible to apply for Master’s programs; students with a Master’s degree are eligible to apply for PhD programs.

*Article 2 of Law of Nationality
A person who meets any of the following conditions passes the ROC nationality requirements.
- A person whose father or mother is, at the time of his/her birth, a citizen of the Republic of China. For those born on or before Feb. 9, 1980 please refer to The Nationality Act as promulgated by the National government on February 9, 1929 (See next page).
- A person born after the death of his /her father or mother who was, at the time of his /her death, a citizen of the Republic of China.
- A person born in the territory of the Republic of China and whose parents are both unknown or stateless.
- A naturalized person.
The provisions specified in sub-paragraphs (1) and (2) of the preceding Paragraph shall apply to minor children on the date of the promulgation of the amendment of this Law.
