Center for NANO Science and Technology

Nanotechnology is an important field of industrial development in the 21st Century, and has already been listed as a critical technological development item in the nation. To achieve academic innovation and technology industrialization, cross-domain talents and experts must be incorporated to promote the movement. Especially for this purpose, NCU established the Center for Nano Science and Technology on August 1, 2003. The members of the center include a total of over 30 professors ranging from the departments of electrical engineering, optoelectronics, physics, biotechnology, mechanics, and chemical & materials engineering; and approximately 100 postgraduate research students. In order to integrate more research personnel with diverse specialties, and to effectively utilize the common instruments, the NCU Center for Nano Science and Technology has merged with the Center for Nano Science and Technology in the University System of Taiwan formed by NCU’s alliances, National Tsing Hua University, National Chiao Tung University, and National Yang-Ming University. This has established a unique and distinguished research team for our university. Five teams were formed to promote nano-research; these are Nano-Science, Nano-Materials, Nano-BioTechnology, Nano-Elements, and Nano-Construction. The Talent Cultivation Committee, Core Facility Committee, and Academic Committee were also established. With these, the establishment of strong research teams, core research facilities, and nanotechnology talents; our cooperation with domestic and international academic circles will be strengthened.
