Synopsis
 影片是屬於「後設電影」式的關於好萊塢影片製作內幕的故事。Griffin是好萊塢片廠的執行製片，工作是每聽作家所構思的故事提綱﹙Pitch）。當他在公司的地位似乎將被取代之際，他也開始收到某位他答應回覆但卻未回覆的作家威脅要殺他的電影明信片。他誤以為是某位作家所為，並失手將其殺害。警方開始調查，他如何解救自己的多重困境？影片以極其嘲諷的口吻，透過一個百分之一百的好萊塢電影模式，呈現一個好萊塢電影的批判。﹙林文淇）

  1. Robert Altman is a director known for his serious criticism of Hollywood films. This time he even made a film about  it. Try to list all the negative views he has on Hollywood films as expressed or implied in The Player.
  2. The film is framed by a mystery (who's blackmailing Griffin?) and a murder of the writer. What may be the  purposes of having them in the plot?
  3. Griffin was deeply attracted to the writer's wife at the first sight when he stood outside her house. Try to analyze this attraction.
