In celebration of National Central Univesity’s (NCU) 60th anniversary of re-establishment in Taiwan, NCU held the street dance competition “Go Beyond” on the open stage in front of the Teaching and Research Building on May 12. This was also the first street dance competition for a university anniversary of NCU. Nine teams participated in the competition, dancing whole-heartedly and showing their charms. Even though the event had been confronted with the COVID-19 pandemic and foul weather, the competition was still a success, showing the indomitable NCU people’s spirit.

The competition began with the team “Prize Reapers.” The cheerful and light-hearted tune and dancing spiced up the whole event. Team “Sleeping-in in Spring; Chun-Li Dancing in Dreams,” consisting of girls from different departments, danced in the grand finale. As soon as they came on the stage, they grabbed all the attention. The team lived up to everyone’s expectations and won the best costume prize. The best shot prize and the best popularity prize went to “HIP HOP ZOO,” a girl group from the Affiliated Zhongli Senior High School of NCU (CLHS), and “NCUPD HIPHOP 30th. ” Both teams performed hip-hop dances; their orderly dance steps and handsome moves won applause from the audience.

The team “Come Some of Music Tonight” won the championship. Its members came from different cities and were in different grades, yet their passion for dance brought them together on stage. The team’s breathtaking opening impressed everyone, and they showed strength and hit on the beats, catching the audience’s attention. After the competition came the solo performance of NCU alumnus Mr. I-Te Tien, who was also the mentor in the boy band talent show Atom Boyz. The way Tien enjoyed the stage attracted the audience and everyone was immersed in his dance performance.
