After a century of experiences, NCU has accumulated a fountain of wisdom. On the eve of its anniversary on June 6th, NCU launched the publication ceremony for the special anniversary issue of “Century-Old NCU” and new book “Century-Old NCU – Humanities Field and Science Sector” to share the wisdom accrued by NCU over the past century with outsiders.

The special anniversary issue of “Century-Old NCU” is edited by former curator of the National Museum of Taiwanese Literature and NCU Chinese Professor Jui-Teng Lee. Edited by using a structure of “Building, Knowledge and People” and a composite mode between books and magazines, the themes of “Humanities and NCU” and “Love, Living and Learning” are used to connect the entire issue, and after ten months of hard work and effort by the editorial team, the issue was completed before the university anniversary.

Edited by vice-president of NCU and Host of the National Speech, Professor Kwang-Hwa Lii, “Century-Old NCU –Science Sector” approaches from the perspectives of the sciences and social sciences to narrate the contributions of NCU to Taiwan. “Century-Old NCU –Science Sector” is edited by NCU Dean of Literature Faculty and successor of New Confucianism, Professor Cho-Hon Yang. During the westernization movement of the May Fourth Movement, NCU founded the “The Critical Review” to fight back and offer critical reviews and demonstrate NCU as a higher institution with soul and spirit.

Since reestablishment in Taiwan, NCU has valued every important step of development. Following the issues of “60th NCU”, “70th NCU”, “80th NCU”, and “90th NCU”, the issue of “100th NCU” is now completed. From the large volumes of writings and records, the issue seeks to reestablish the core values of the university, show gratitude to the past and remember the foundations built by past sages, and continue to strive yet further for dreams by continuing to stand on the shoulders of giants.
