With the collaboration of the Education Division of the Representative Office in the European Union and Belgium, National Central University officially signed a memorandum of cooperation with Delta’s EMEA (Europe, Middle East, and Africa) Headquarters on 31st August. This marks the initiation of the 2024 Overseas Professional Internship Program, aimed at enriching students' global perspectives and honing their professional skills. The program is scheduled to begin in February 2024, selecting outstanding students to participate on a six-month internship at Delta’s EMEA Headquarters located in Hoofddorp, the Netherlands.
 
Dr. Jing-Yang Jou, President of National Central University, expressed that overseas internships present a valuable opportunity to combine professional practice with international experiences. He encouraged students to boldly step onto the frontline of multinational corporations, actively participate in the program, and thereby enhance their workplace skills and cultivate cross-border mobility abilities, providing positive inspiration for both their careers and personal growth.
 
Dalip Sharma, Delta’s President and General Manager for Europe, Middle East & Africa (EMEA), highlighted that Delta has been deeply rooted in the EMEA region for over 35 years, boasting nearly 1,000 engineers and 15 research and development centers. The EMEA Headquarters in the Netherlands is dedicated to the development of crucial fields, such as data centers, industrial and building automation, automotive power solutions, and energy infrastructure (including microgrids, renewable energy, and EV charging). Therefore, the students for this internship program will not only accumulate precious market knowledge experience but also explore the trends shaping the future of the industry.
 
Representative Remus Li-Kuo Chen of Taipei Representative Office in the EU and Belgium believes that this interdisciplinary initiative is beneficial for cultivating talents for the next generation in the EU and Taiwan to respond to the needs of green and digital transition. It also expands the footprint of the overseas studies and internship scheme sponsored by Taiwan’s Ministry of Education and in line with the spirit of the EU Erasmus+ programme as well.
 
Representative Hsin-Hsin Chen of Taipei Representative Office in the Netherlands further explained that the Netherlands ranked fourth in the recently announced 2023 European Innovation Scoreboard by the EU. It stands as a powerhouse of innovation in the European region. The Netherlands maintains long-term collaboration with Taiwan's high-tech industry ecosystem. The representative is delighted to welcome Taiwanese students participating on internships in the Netherlands.
 
Through close collaboration between industry and academia, the "Delta EMEA Headquarters - Netherlands 2024 Overseas Professional Internship Program Application" will jointly cultivate interns from National Central University, fostering their problem-solving skills, leadership abilities, and innovative thinking. By engaging with teams of diverse cultures, backgrounds, experiences, and perspectives, participants will gain insights into Delta’s global operations in power electronics, automation, infrastructure, and other business aspects, contributing to their competitiveness as international talents. This program will offer participants significant subsidies, including airfare, internship allowances, and living expenses.
