To enforce academic exchanges and bilateral collaborations, President of NCU Jou Jing-yang and Vice President for International Affairs, Hsu Ping-yu, visited Vietnam in last March, hoping to build a firmer foundation for collaborations between NCU and institutes of Vietnamese advanced education.

Vice President for International Affairs, Hsu Ping-yu, indicated that NCU has an outstanding reputation in Southeast Asia and is the first choice for Vietnamese students coming to Taiwan to pursue higher education. There are currently one hundred Vietnamese students studying at NCU. They also received great assistance from NCU Vietnamese alumni during this visit to Vietnam.

Among the institutes they visited, Can Tho University was the one with which NCU signed a sisterhood pact in 2015. The university has around 60,000 students. It is the biggest national university in the Mekong Delta, and is also one of the universities with the highest rankings in Vietnam. The two universities were amicable before the pact-signing. Colleges of Engineering at both universities interact frequently, and they have applied for bilateral research projects to both Taiwanese and Vietnamese government organizations. Many lecturers from Can Tho University are studying at NCU with outstanding research performance.

This year marks the 50th anniversary of Can Tho University. NCU was the only Taiwanese university invited to the event, which was greatly significant. President of Can Tho University Hà Thanh Toàn said that with the rapidly developing economy, universities in Vietnam actively look for collaborations with universities abroad. He has great faith and high hopes for this partnership, expecting both sides to benefit from the exchange of information and experience.
