NCU Performs Well in the Best Global Universities Rankings
In the 2017 Best Global Universities Rankings announced by the U.S. News & World Report, NCU is one of the five universities in Taiwan which are on the list of the best 500. NCU ranks fourth among the universities in Taiwan. To date, the best record of NCU was to rank 365th among the global universities.
The U.S. News & World Report is the first publication published by the U.S. targeting on the rankings of universities around the world. There are a thousand universities being ranked based on several indicators among hundreds of thousands of universities in more than 65 countries.
The Best Global Universities Rankings released by the U.S. News & World Report is regarded as one of the significant indicators and rankings, which is equally influential as the Times Higher Education (THE) World University Rankings, Academic Ranking of World Universities (ARWU), and the QS World University Rankings. “The Best Global Universities Rankings” measures the universities based on twelve indictors, including global and regional research reputation, publications, international collaboration, normalized citation impact, number of total publications that are among the 10 percent most cited, and the number and percentage of highly cited papers that are among the top 1 percent most cited. In recent years, NCU has had brilliant performance in the Best Global Universities Rankings and ranks fourth among the top universities in Taiwan, keeping up with National Taiwan University (NTU), National Tsing Hua University (NTHU), and National Cheng Kung University (NCKU). Moreover, NCU outperforms other universities in the international collaboration, and the highest rank of this indicator is the 18th out of the 1000 best global universities.
In addition, in the Google Scholar Citations Ranking, NCU ranks 221st in 2017, making a great improvement from the 267th in 2016 and keeping the third place among Taiwan’s universities. It is exciting and it shows that NCU is the internationally recognized university full of research energy.
