Department of Information Management won the Merit Award at the 2018 APICTA Awards

The APICTA Awards program organized by Asia Pacific ICT Alliance (APICTA) attracted top elites in the field of Information and Communications Technology (ICT) around Asia-Pacific region to participate in the keen contest. This year, there were 206 entrepreneur teams and 68 student teams nominated by the 15 economies in APICTA joining the competition. The NCU representatives, with 5 members led by Dr. Shi-Jen Lin, Head of the Department of Information Management (DIM), won the Merit Award at the APICTA Awards.

The award-winning project of NCU in the tertiary students group was the “Intelligent Air Quality Sensing and Purifying Rover (IAQSPR).” It was to equip the automatic mobile vehicle with air quality sensors and air purifier modules. The vehicle may travel among the regulated areas and automatically detect the air quality and purify it. The five team members from NCU were Mr. Zhe-Hao Fan, Ms. Ruo-Juan Zhou, Ms. Wan-Ru Wu, Ms. Yuan-Xin Guo, and Mr. Xiao-Xian Du; they have developed the innovative as well as pragmatic piece of work.


 

APICTA is one of the most influential organizations in the ICT industry in Asia-Pacific region. Established in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia in 1999, APICTA is currently comprised of 16 economies: Australia, Bangladesh, Brunei, China, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Japan, Macao, Malaysia, Myanmar, Pakistan, Singapore, Sri Lanka, Taiwan, Thailand, and Vietnam. Moreover, the geographical areas covered by the 16 economies will become the areas in which the population size and the Gross National Product (GNP) grow sharply. These fast-growing areas may further become the key markets for the corporations in Taiwan to expand the export markets for selling solutions.
