The E-DREaM Center of NCU signed an MOU with Kangwon National University, Korea
The E-DREaM Center of NCU signed an MOU with the RIER of Kangwon National University in the Kwoh-Ting Library on the NCU campus on January 20, 2020. Attendees took a group photo.
Dr. Kuo-Fong Ma, Director of the Earthquake-Disaster & Risk Evaluation and Management Center (E-DREaM Center) of National Central University, and Dr. Bo-An Jang, Executive Officer of the Research Institute for Earth Resources (RIER) of Kangwon National University, signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) between the E-DREaM Center and the RIER at the Kwoh-Ting Library on the NCU campus on January 20, 2020.
At the MOU signing ceremony, NCU also invited scholars from Kangwon National University, Korea, to introduce the plate tectonics of the Korean Peninsula and the East Sea around the peninsula and to share their current research on numerical simulation of recent seismic activities. Through such academic exchange and the signing of the MOU, the E-DREaM Center and the RIER expect to lay the foundation for frequent academic cooperation and faculty exchange in the near future.
Kangwon National University is one of the top ten flagship national institutions in higher education in Korea. In particular, the Research Institute for Earth Resources (RIER), established in 1983, aims to integrate disciplines and colleges related to earth sciences including Geophysics, Geology, earth energy, and resources, and to conduct interdepartmental research projects and collaboration. The RIER was elected one of the key university research centers by the Ministry of Education of Korea in 2019. The MOU between the E-DREaM Center of NCU and the RIER of Kangwon National University will enhance the development of academic partnership and faculty exchange.
