National Central University (NCU) introduced “oloo” shared electric scooters into the on-campus mobility system in April to allow all NCU members to travel easily and achieve the goals of energy conservation and carbon reduction. The e-scooters trend soon swept through students, and many of them found the riding cool, fast, and joyful after the test ride.

The “Seminars on Journalism” organized by the Office of Secretariat, National Central University (NCU), were combined with the lecture tour “I Am a Foreign Correspondent” initiated by the Central News Agency (CNA) this semester. The seminar invited Ms. Yachen Tai, CNA foreign correspondent based in the United Kingdom, to share her valuable overseas experience, and many students were attracted to attend the lecture. NCU expected that such a lecture would broaden students’ global vision and boost their media literacy skills.

As the first university in Taiwan that set “sustainable development” as its main goal of education and research, National Central University (NCU) has been actively responding to the international consensus on sustainability—net zero emissions. At the forum of “Sustainable and Decarbonizing Technologies” held on Feb. 16, NCU President Dr. Jou Jing-Yang took the initiative to declare that NCU is estimated to attain 50% carbon neutrality on campus in 2030 and 100% in 2050.

Dr. Tsai has demonstrated his talent in international management; he has a profound influence on the technology industry in Taiwan.

The pandemic has made international movement inconvenient. The Office of International Affairs (OIA) at NCU held the “International Cultural Day and Study-Abroad Fair” at the square of the Teaching and Research Building on Nov. 26 to broaden students’ international vision even when traveling abroad has been restricted. Native students who had joined the exchange program in France, Germany, Sweden, as well as international students from India, Vietnam, Indonesia, the Philippines, and Pakistan were invited to this event to set up exhibition stalls. The students at each stall introduced the distinctive culture of their countries and shared the customs of their local daily life. They moved their hometowns to NCU, allowing visitors to experience the culture and customs of eight countries without traveling abroad.
